A typical wedding party. They have already had the wedding ceremony in the mosque.

This is a wedding reception where we eat "all together." Sometimes this means 4 people eating from the same platter but here we each have our own plate of rice and share the other main dishes.

I love the fact that I can wonder into a strainers yard out of the jungle and be invited to have coffee and coconut water from a coconut right off a tree.

"It tastes like fruit, and meat, and dirty socks."


I thought that was a good way someone described durien candy. Someone else said the candy tasted like amaxasilin. Well, this was the real thing not just the candy. It's defiantly a lot more enjoyable to me when it's shared among friends.

I got to go and spend the night in a village with a friend. She and the kids decided it'd be fun to go bath in the river. Most everyone took their sope and shampoo. Bathing attire was optional but no matter the age or lack of clothing everyone was happy to have their photo taken.

It was a foolish move on my part. I knew it would be hard but I was told, "you go up for a little way and then the rest of the time your going back down hill." And would take about 5 hours. All that was true but I'm not a hiker. And I really wasn't ready but I went anyway. About half an hour into the hike I thought I'd made a terribly mistake and tried to talk my friends into letting me go back down and hitch hike home. But they talked me into going to the top and going down wasn't as bad. So I survived and came home with sweet memories and some photos that don't quite do what we could see justis.

There is lots of candy here but the kids and parents too were excited to get to taste some kinds that they don't have here.

Agis is enjoying her Reesee cup by squeezing the melted chocolate out an open corner in the package. I think Mida had already eaten all her candy.
