 Sue and I use these flash cards to help her learn to read.  This is Sue below.  We met her through teaching English to kids in her village.

 A month or two ago, Journey started making a "monster face" and snorting.  She's working to perfect it now. :o)

 Wedding festivities continue this week.  There was a reception at the grooms family's home.

 Then the brides family got all dressed up in traditional cloths.

 The had a ceremony where the bride price is haggled out.  This is all ceremony now the brides family on one side and the grooms on the other and singers (a little like dueling auctioneers) sing back and forth to each other.  (This was supposed to start at 2:00pm.... it started at 4:00...)

 Then the wedding parade!

 Weddings here are a family affair.  Aunts, cousins, and grandmothers all help start the cooking about three days before the ceremony.

 The brides family provides meals and snacks for the family that comes to help.  Netta's dad is feeding her her breakfast.

 Coconuts have to be hacked out of their shells.

 Now the day of the wedding, everybody gets all dressed up.  This is Journey's "Niniq" and her "cousin" Nabila.  (Journey is 6 months old and Nabila is 9 months.)

 This is traditional dress for this island but only little girls ware it now.  It's considered too sexy for grown up ladies to ware.  It's low cut and shows your midriff.
