We also went with our friends up into the mountains to a part of the island that is "Christian." They just celebrated 100 years since the Good News came into their aria.
You can tell your in this aria by the beautifully decorated rice barns here and there outside peoples homes.
Rice barns.
This one is a house. Some people guess that this tribe built their houses to look like the ships that originally brought them to this island.
They sacrifice water buffalo when there is a death. This tribe also has an unusual burial customs.
They make statues of the person that died.
This is a very life like and life size one of a grandma and grandpa.
And they bury people in caves in the side of the mountain. One per coffin until the coffin falls apart and then they just collect the bones and stick them here or there.
We love watter buffalo!

We got to go visit some friends on the big island to the north of us. Although there is another theory, when people used to say "the Boogie man will get you" that saying came from here. These are Bugis people. They've lived on the water and been sea farriers (pirate) for hundreds of years.
They still build their houses on stilts.
All held in place with pegs so the houses can be taken down and moved.
